Legacy Interviews

What would you want others to know about who you were?

 What you enjoyed…

Where you’ve been…

Lessons you learned…

Challenges you’ve faced…

How you were able to make it through this life?

Why a legacy interview?

A legacy interview allows your loved ones to know more about you and leaves a special memory for them to cherish for years to come after you are gone.

Recounting your life story allows you to share your perception of life, and offers encouragement and guidance to others, who will certainly face troubles in their lives, by giving them insights on how you made it through.

They may, in turn, be able to pass those same helps on to others for future generations.

Deuteronomy 4:6-9

“Listen, Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is One.

Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart.

Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead.

Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

What?

Legacy interviews are comprised of two sessions with John.

First session:

The first session will be a telephone conversation (preceded by a general e-mail questionnaire) to help stimulate memories, important lessons you have learned, and just basic facts that help describe you.

Second Session:

The second session will be in person as either a recorded video or audio interview which will be edited and returned to you to share with family and friends. (Most people choose video, but you may have audio only, if you would prefer.)

Besides being a legacy to pass down to your loved ones, this audio/video could even one day be used during a funeral visitation or possibly during the service itself.

The second interview is best if done within a week of the first interview to maintain its freshness on your mind.

Interview sessions are intended to be relaxed and casual.

Sessions will begin with casual conversation in preparation for the interview.

Where?

The second session should be done in a comfortable setting.

It may be done at our facility, or it can be done at your home, park, hospital room, or at a setting that holds some special significance to you.

When?

Legacy interviews can be done at any stage of life. Though many choose to use it toward the end of their journey on this earth, some may prepare one now and then later on in life may choose to revisit and share new things that have been learned since the first video.

These audio/video interviews will be meaningful to your loved ones no matter when you prepare them, as they give your hopes, dreams, special memories and life perspectives.

You, yourself, may want to look back on your legacy interviews to give you those “oh yeah” moments when you feel that you can’t make it another day.

Who?

Though the legacy interview is primarily utilized by individuals, it is also offered to small groups and families.

2 Timothy 2:1-2

You, therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus

And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, commit to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
